just read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.

congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.

congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

Emeth - I said to my wife before the meeting last night that after this announcement is made, we STOP trying to help our brothers see the truth about what the Org is all about, because if they accept this, pay through the nose, and carry on as normal, THEY DESERVE EVERYTHING THEY GET!!

Am I being too harsh? No!!

For the following reasons -

a) Witnesses do NOT study the Bible for themselves - they rely on a Writing Committee to do it for them, and accept that they are being told isthe truth.

b) Witnesses have willingly obeyed the Org and substituted the G.B. as their leader and Mediator - thereby rejecting Matthew 23:10 & 1 Timothy 2:5.

If you are genuinely a brother, examine these Scriptures to see if the GB's teachings are Bible-based.

Revelation 20:1-12 = Exactly when are the scrolls opened?; are they 'new'?; what is their purpose?

Romans 6:7 = Does a person's own death/blood wash away their sins, thereby giving them a 'clean' standing before God?

Galatians 2:1-14 = What impelled Paul to go to Jerusalem in connection with the circumcision debate? (V2) Did the apostles impart any new revelation to Paul? If Paul told the apostles, then where is the so-called "Governing Body"? Who therefore was used by the Holy Spirit to resolve the circumcion issue? If there was a "Governing Body", then Paul must have been guilty of "speaking abusively of glorious ones" (Jude 8) when he gave Peter a dressing-down for his hypocrisy - and should have been disfellowshipped.

Also, please open the Watchtower study article we did last Sunday - January 15 2014 pp. 28, 30 - and read paragraphs 6 & 14.

Lie!! The Bible Students were certain of what was going to happen, because they'd been taught it for years, and they preached it!!

"When some of their expectations about what would happen in 194 did not come about....."

Lie!! It was Russells expectations - which he indoctrinated into the gullible who looked to him as the FDS.

If you refuse to obey 1 John 4:1 - as the GB in Brooklyn has commanded you (September 2007 Kingom Ministry - Question box) - then nothing anyone says to you will help you see the reality of what is going on.

Which begs the question - Why are you frequenting a website such as this, and speaking with so-called 'apostates'?

My conclusion? You are simply counting your time for the approval of your masters in the KH!

WOULD THIS BE A TAX SCAM?

if a religion loaned out money - interest free - to its followers, would the authorities view the repayments as being taxable?

if so/not, could the religion legally cancel the debt, and request a donation for the same amount instead, thereby qualifying to claim back tax from the government, which the donors paid?

(in the uk it's called gift aid).

Hey Emeth, there's an older sister in our KH who lives alone and doesn't have the £1400 to replace her old rotten windows. Can you think of a Bible principle or a suggestion as to how this could be remedied?

My prediction is this; (repeating what I said months before this story broke)

In the UK we have Bank Standing Orders, which when given to the bank, authorises them to send a fixed amount of money from YOUR account to SOMEONE ELSE'S account! Voila!!

I fully expect the Britain Branch to send a letter to every KH in the UK in the coming months, telling them that this is wonderfully simple way to ensure we don't forget to honour our pledge.

It's also the "wonderfully simple way" to let the Org and the Elders know who is paying the KH tax and who is not!

The Pharisees had their Temple Tax - why shouldn't the GB do the same?

hello everyone i just wanted to give a litte update on what happened today with my tolerant, but still active jw wife.

she was at the sunday morning meeting today and when she came home she told me the wt study was about the revised overlapping generation setting.

there has been some tension whenever we discuss my differences with current wt beliefs so i was surprised she brough this up.

Good to hear that your wife is questioning what's being spouted as "Bible truth", and thinking for herself.

An elderly sister grabbed an Elder after the WT today, and asked him to tell her what exactly Christ has "conquered" since 1914.

Being caught unawares by such a reasonable question, prompted a stuttering, impromptu answer which reinforced in her mind that what the Watchtower said was drivel, and also that his lame reply was drivel!!!

Isn't it wonderful to see & hear such ones in their 70's who recognize a pile of manure when they see it!

The GB haven't a clue how many older ones are being alienated by the changes introduced through the Org's chariot!!

Are all JWs united in their beliefs?

so i used to think that all witnesses believed the same exact thing but i have heard some claims that they believe things i'm not familiar with.

The inevitable memorial invitation

i knew it was coming.

i'd managed to swerve it once already when i saw the paper invite laid out all special in my mothers kitchen when i arrived at her house..i avoided the kitchen for the rest of the visit.. had the family over this weekend, we were alone whilst preparing food and i knew from the second that the tone in her voice changed what was coming.

the usual words along the line of "i invite you every year, i've got the paper invite to give you as well (like that would make a difference?!

Yes, the indoctrinated mentality is that attending the Memorial is like having a good luck charm - it's going to save you!

However, the opposite is true, as one sister's answer highlighted this morning - "Those who refuse to listen to us are signing their own death warrants."

Such ones don't even think about the implications of what they say & think - they are personally judging everyone who does not have their corrupt mindset, courtesy of the GB!!

Anyone been watchtower conductor

i think there is a good chance i'm going to be asked to be the watchtower conductor.

on the one hand, i'll find it quite difficult some weeks having to go along with what is written.

on the other hand, there'll be opportunities to ask controversial questions (within limits).

In my heart of hearts I cannot fathom why you would accept this "privilege"!!!!!!!!!!!

I refuse point blank to to do anything which I know is corrupt and against the Scriptures, e.g. giving out invitations for conventions/memorial/JW.ORG and placing literature which is blatantly lying to "the faithful", let alone the unwary public!

Just reject the 'invitation' by saying "No thanks, I really couldn't cope with such a responsibilty, but thanks for thinking of me." And stick to your guns!

If you become the WT Conductor, you are going to put your conscience through hell!!

I survived a 3-hour manipulation session with 2 elderettes!

i'm not sure how else to describe this meeting at my kitchen table.

my elderette ("miss k") arrived with her friend in tow.

i vaguely remember the 2nd lady ("miss w") from the times we went to the kh, but like miss k, we never really talked in depth.

Ask them to explain the difference between 'upon' and 'over', and if they can think of a single example where both words could possibly mean the same thing.

Then refer them to the false translation of Revelation 5:10 in the NWT & RNWT, but also to the correct translation of the Greek in their Kingdom Interlinear Translation - which is reinforced by the diagram of the Greek words inside the front cover.

Ask them why a specific Greek word has been substituted with a different one in their translation?

Why not tell them to prepare for a DIRTY BIG LIE coming up soon in a Watchtower Study article, namely, "New scrolls will be opened DURING Christ's 1000 years reign."

Ask them to read out aloud Revelation 20:1-10 from their Bibles, to see what has to happen BEFORE these non-'new' scrolls are opened.

Yup, Satan is abyssed, released, then destroyed!! These events happen during/at the end of the 1000 years, and only AFTER these events have taken place are the non-'new' scrolls opened!!

If that doesn't get them to recognise that their FDS is a liar and deceiver, nothing will!
